Home-grown messaging app Hike Messenger has announced new animated stickers to mark the occasion of Makar Sankranti. The stickers will be available in-app from January 11 and the Hike users can download these from the Play Store and App Store.
The new packs are available in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil and English. They can be used by users to send wishes on the harvest festival to their friends and family. The sticker pack highlights the festival’s joy and colour. It depicts kites flying, bonfires for coping with the winter chill, and other associated references of the festival. According to the company, they capture the wholesome spirit of the festival.
The messaging platform said in a press statement that its stickers are one of the most loved features of Hike. The app offers a library of over 20,000 stickers in 40+ languages and covering multiple genres which highlight the colorful, cultural landscape of India, Bollywood, comedy, festivals, cricket, kabaddi, local catchphrases, emotions, and even excuses.
The app also gives users a way to turn any typed message into a fun sticker. This is enabled using the nifty text-to-stickers feature on Hike chat. As per the press note, over 300 million stickers are exchanged every day using the Hike Messenger.
The app-based messaging platform was launched on December 12, 2012, by the Bharti Airtel scion Kavin Mittal. In January 2016, Hike acquired a user base of over 100 million. This year only, the company laid off 25% of its workforce across functions, including human resources, accounting and finance, among others. The lay-off then was termed as ‘business as usual’.
